3 Instagram Marketing MISTAKES That’s Causing People To UNFOLLOW!

Let me clear the air really quick… People are going to unfollow you on Instagram, and that’s OK. In fact, they’re probably doing you a favor. They are helping you clear out the qualified leads vs. the people who are wasting both your time and theirs.

But if you’re losing the followers that SHOULD be on your account, it’s probably because they’re no longer engaged with the content you’re posting. In this blog post we’re going to cover the three mistakes you might be making that’s causing your target audience to disengage and unfollow, then we’ll focus on ways to fix it. Let’s dive in.

Three Instagram Mistakes To Avoid:

  1. Not Showing Your Face

  2. Not Creating Instagram Reels

  3. Not Getting To The Point QUICKLY

1. Not Showing Your Face Remember that the whole point of social media is to be social. It’s hard for your followers to get attached to your brand (and you) when there’s not an actual person they can learn to trust. TRUST is the name of the game with social media marketing. Start showing your face every now and then to remind your audience that there is an actual person behind your incredible account, designs, services, etc. You’re pretty cool. Let people see your face 😉

2. Not Creating Instagram Reels You probably just cringed and got really frustrated with me for a second. Take a deep breath… there will be no dancing here if you don’t want to. You do not have to dance in reels to create engaging content. Let me say it again for the people in the back… You do NOT have to dance to create engaging Instagram reels!

Now that we got that out of the way… start creating reels that are filled with valuable content that will cause your audience to come back to your account itching for more. You see, Instagram Reels have been continuously proving themselves to be superior to standard IG videos. Like incredibly superior. The organic reach that Reels produce is astounding, and you’re missing out on the opportunity to reach thousands of people by not posting reels.

3. Not Getting To The Point QUICKLY We have the attention spans of squirrels. Just being honest. If you’re not capturing your audience’s attention in the first 3 seconds of your video, they’ve already disengaged and scrolled right past your post. Don’t start your video with an animation, your logo, or even introducing your self! Get right to the point. Start giving away value IMMEDIATELY.

People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Lead with value, then consider introducing yourself.

Stop Making These Mistakes Stop making these Instagram mistakes and instead focus on these 3 strategies to re-engage your audience:

  1. Show your face in a photo or in a lip-syncing reel.

  2. Post value packed Instagram reels

  3. Get to the point immediately in every single post.
